The upcoming 10th edition of Tumaini Festival 2024 is thrilled to extend an open invitation to artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to join the upcoming festival, scheduled to take place from October 31st to November 2nd in the vibrant setting of Dzaleka refugee camp in Dowa.
Tumaini Festival, the world's first and only international festival held inside a refugee camp, is a shining example of how art, culture, and music can foster social inclusion and intercultural harmony. Taking place in the heart of Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, this annual event transforms the camp into a vibrant tourist destination, drawing thousands of people together to celebrate diversity, promote peaceful coexistence, and support the economic empowerment of refugees.
One of the key principles of Tumaini Festival is its commitment to inclusivity. As a free event, it welcomes everyone without discrimination, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and shared experiences. While the festival cannot cover international travel costs for participants coming from outside Malawi, it provides local transport, meals, accommodation, when necessary to artists coming from out of the Central Region.
As artists participate in Tumaini Festival, they are encouraged to not only showcase their talents but also to collaborate, share knowledge, and engage with one another through workshops and exchange sessions. This collaborative spirit fosters opportunities for learning, growth, and mutual appreciation, further promoting the festival's mission of promoting peaceful coexistence and intercultural harmony.
