First Round Voting Closes for 67th Annual Grammy Awards; Two African Reggae Artists Have Submitted Albums for Consideration.

Voting is now closed for the prestigious 67th Annual Grammy Awards, and the Best Reggae Album category sees a notable increase in submissions. This year, 75 albums were submitted to eligible Grammy voters, up from last year’s 65.
Among the entries, Notably, two African reggae artists have submitted their albums for consideration, highlighting the genre's growing influence. Don Dada from South Africa and Blakk Rasta from Ghana.

Don Dada recently released his double album, "The Heart And The Mind", in September. The Heart & The Mind is set-up to be a double album, one predominantly Reggae / Dancehall and the other Hip-Hop.

Since his debut on the prestigious Mandela Day Concert stage in Johannesburg in 2016, Don Dada has made significant strides as a Reggae/Hip-Hop artist and social influencer. He is dedicated to uplifting Africa, promoting unity, and empowering youth to pursue their destinies through education and collaboration. His vision focuses on addressing poverty and achieving the African Millennium Goals, driven by a passion for positive change.

Blakk Rasta, born Abubakar Ahmed on September 2, 1974, is a celebrated Ghanaian reggae and Kuchoko artist, dub poet, and radio presenter at Accra-based 3FM. He gained international recognition with his hit song "Barack Obama," which he performed in honor of the 44th U.S. President. Notably, he was honored at a special dinner with President Obama in July 2010. 

On his latest album "Salaga Soljah", Blakk Rasta collaborates with the legendary Anthony B on the track "Barber Shop."

As the voting continues, both Don Dada and Blakk Rasta are poised to make a mark in the reggae scene, representing African talent on a global stage.
