Girl Power takes over Sawubona Music Jam Awards 2023 as the #WomenInReggaeMovement turns up the heat!

Blessed are all the music enthusiasts out there! Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Sawubona Music Jam Awards 2023, happening on October 31, 2023. This event will be brought to you live and direct, with the full support of the #womeninreggaemovement.

"The #womeninreggaemovement is a collective of women who are passionate about or advocates for issues related to women in society. Specifically non-gender-based violence, women's rights, diversity, and inclusion". Spearheaded by the Mzansi Roots Reggae matriarch Sista Phumi Maduna, this movement has been working tirelessly in giving much-needed support and guidance to the upcoming and well-established artists in the reggae scene where women still have to fight tooth and nail for recognition in the male-dominated industry. As a way to celebrate and honor these incredible artists, they will be performing at the 5th annual Sawubona Music Jam Awards.

The Sawubona Music Jam, held at 2199 Musingandi Street Chiawelo, Soweto, Founded by Lucky Thobela in 2012, has become a hotspot for musicians and live music lovers. Their weekly event called "Magic Tuesdays" is a favorite among music enthusiasts, providing a platform for talented artists to showcase their skills.

Among the #WomenInReggaeMovement artists performing at the 5th annual Sawubona Music Jam awards will be Sankie Fyah Uman, Undefynd, Phumi Maduna, Italistic, Jossy Daphina, Empress Pro, Thuthukani Cele along with various artists in reggae. It promises to be an electrifying night filled with incredible live performances.
