Reviving The Youth Through Art: Young Women in Arts Imbizo

09 July 2024

In the heart of Ennerdale, a community once vibrant with creativity and talent, a group of young individuals is striving to rebuild what was lost. The demolition of the sports ground and library left a void that impacted the youth deeply, robbing them of opportunities to express themselves through art, dance, music, and literature. Yet, from the ashes of destruction, a new movement has emerged - the Young Women in Arts Imbizo.

Led by a passionate team of artists and creatives, the Young Women in Arts Imbizo is a beacon of hope in a community yearning for a platform to showcase their gifts and talents. Their #SaveOurArts campaign is a call to action, a plea to leaders, businesses, and the Department of Arts to stand in solidarity and support the rebuilding of an arts community in Ennerdale.

On Friday, August 9th, 2024, the Urban Zulu Rooftop in Johannesburg will be transformed into a space of creativity and inspiration. From 11:00 to 18:00, the venue will host an interactive event that aims to bring together 200 guests from all walks of life. Artists, poets, DJs, authors, fashion designers, musicians, and visual artists will unite under one roof, sharing their work and passion with the world.

The Young Women in Arts Imbizo promises a day filled with arts education, interactive exhibitions, and opportunities for young women to shine. This event is not just about showcasing talent; it's about empowering the next generation of female artists and creatives. Entry is free of charge, ensuring that everyone has the chance to participate and be inspired.

As we rally behind the Women in Arts team, let us remember the power of art to heal, inspire, and unite. Through this event, the initiative is not just to reviving the arts community; but to reviving the youth, and give them a platform to thrive and create a brighter future for themselves and their community.

Join Women in Arts Imbizo on August 9th at the Urban Zulu Rooftop as they celebrate the beauty and resilience of Ennerdale's youth.
