United Colours of Reggae has donated R20,000 to Elder Jah Crucial, one of South Africa's reggae legends, to assist with his medical costs. The initiative was part of a benefit cause organized in honour of the elder, who has been facing severe health complications.
Jah Crucial's health problems were first exposed when he took to the stage at the Soweto Dub Experience Gumba Fyah where he had mentioned of not feeling irie. His condition has, however, worsened since then, and the reggae fraternity has rallied around him.
In readiness for the occasion, reggae artists Perfect Giddimani and Young Shanty took time off to visit Jah Crucial at his Vosloorus residence. Bedridden but in improved spirits, courtesy of the visit, the elder showed delight at having his favourite artists in his house.
United Colours Of Reggae donation is a reflection of the reggae fraternity's compassion and unity, as well as the movement's culture of taking care of its own in times of need. The donation will be used for Jah Crucial's medical treatment and improve his quality of life as he continues to battle his health problems.
The reggae fraternity continues to stand in solidarity with Jah Crucial, praying for strength and a speedy recovery.
