Background
Macdark Di Director, born Mcdonald Lanci on the 27th of August 1986 in Mashava, one of the biggest mining villages in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe. He is the second born in a family of five, four boys and 1 girl. He attended Primary School and Secondary School at Gaths and Temeraire respectively.
Mcdonald's love for music started at a very young age, his fathers love for reggae music rubbed off on him, he was exposed to Jamaica Legends like Joseph Hill, Dennis Brown, and the likes, as time went by he got exposed to other Jamaican Dancehall greats like Bounty Killer and Capleton. He fell in love with Dancehall and by digging deeper into the music he discovered the Zimbabwean Legend Winky D who became his inspiration to work hard at his craft. Thereupon completing his secondary level, he moved to South Africa with his Uncle who was an art merchant. In South Africa, he got the opportunity to record music with Coppashot, at that time Zimdancehall was taking radio waves by storm. His first song was 'kumashure hatidzokere' meaning 'We never stop'.

He met President Chikii, a well-known Zimbabwean Promoter who gave artists from Zimbabwe a chance to record at his studios. In 2014 he recorded "Higher Level" on Ninja Salute Riddim, which he regards as one of his best songs. He has shared a stage with different artists like Itesman, Lord Harmony, Shinsoman, The Late Soul Jah love, Tocky Vybz, General Sniper Storm, King Labash, Freeman, Alick Macheso, Killer T, etc.
He released a ton of singles before he recorded his first professional studio album "TOP CLASS" in 2019 which was produced by Razor T Smart at the Spicy Village. In 2020 he released an EP (Take A Step) with Razor T Smart & Icon Tee Production. He also recorded another in 2021 "Still Young" with T Smart @spicy village. He is presently busy with a reggae album called "IsheAnopa" meaning 'God Gives' due to be released in 2022.
