Muncho Blac – The Man, The Music, The Life
Muncho Blac, born Mantsho Lucas Tjatji, hails from a small mining village called Vandyksdrift (Witbank), where he lived from the age of 5 to 20. However, his roots trace back to Limpopo. The name "Muncho Blac" holds deep significance, it derives from "Mantsho" representing the sePedi word for “Black,” connecting him to his heritage and ancestry.
As an artist, Muncho Blac blends two powerful music genres: Reggae and Trap, with Reggae forming the foundation of his unique sound. His musical journey was deeply influenced by legends like WinstoRodney (Burning Spear) and Kid Cudi.
His passion for Reggae ignited between 2005 and 2010, although it started as an internal love for the music without any formal performances or rehearsals.
In 2011, Muncho Blac took a significant step forward by purchasing his first guitar, and he began learning from various musicians he encountered on his journey. From 2016 to 2017, he worked with the "More Fire" Reggae band, gaining experience and honing his craft.
The turning point in his career came in 2017 when he met his current producer, Dumsane Phama aka Jozi. Together, they fused the roots of Reggae with modern Trap production, giving rise to Muncho Blac’s distinctive Reggae Trap sound in 2020.
Looking toward the future, Muncho Blac speaks confidently about his mission and passion. “The reason I became a musician is because I enjoy reasoning about the mysteries and wonders of the world, from fiction and facts to conspiracy theories, stories, and future possibilities. Most importantly, I love sharing the truth for the betterment of my people on Earth,” he explains. Through his music, he seeks to inspire and engage listeners, turning deep reflections into powerful melodies and messages.
Muncho Blac’s dream is simple yet profound: to see no more hunger or starvation, regardless of nationality or race, believing in a form of heaven while still alive. With his music, he strives to make the world a better place, one song at a time.
